It's been awhile... it's tough when life gets in the way of blogging! (of course, I have time to read other people's blogs and get annoyed when they don't update regularly, but that's how I am. Double standard is my middle name!)
So... the weekend was a blur, but a good blur. We had a nice lunch with my parents on Saturday who arrived safely from Israel on Thursday night. Though still a bit jet-lagged, they were in good spirits and were happy to see us and Sophie. Great food and lots of catching up face-to-face made for a nice time for all. It's great to have them home for awhile.
We attended a great party for our friends graduating from a local school, which was held in our Condo's clubhouse. Met their families and friends and just had a really nice time.
Mother's Day was quiet but nice. Sophie came over early Sunday morning with a great card (one of those musical ones, that allows the giver of the card to record their voice! Very cute). I woke up with a bad headache, so Linda's Mom's day gift to me was to let me sleep another hour and to make Sophie a nice breakfast! Thanks, honey.
After taking Sophie to Sunday school, I came home to hang out with the NY Times.
When I picked Sophie up, she had made me another Mother's Day card, but it was written all in Hebrew! Loved it! My ex picked her up about about 1 to go and have a nice Mom's Day dinner out with some friends.
Linda & I went to the local Dogwood festival and walked around the local booths which were selling jewelry and other stuff. We ran into our Rabbi and his family where they congratulated us on the article that I was interviewed for in the local paper (which was a good thing, but they misquoted some things and spelled Linda's last name wrong, but it was a nice piece about 2 local gay couples planning on getting married).
Oh, yeah, that's the other thing that has been keeping us busy. Talking about our wedding. More specifically, FINALLY, choosing a date. And then the lists REALLY started to be made! The date is August 15, 2010 and we are very excited about it!
Why that date, you ask? Well, no, it's not a significant date (yet!) in our relationship thus far, but it works out for family members coming from afar and for allowing us some time to finance the shindig! Not that it's going to be huge, but we want it to be just right.
Though we won't be the first gay couple to tie the knot in our Temple (as a NY couple had their small ceremony there this past Friday noon, so that it would be recognized in NY state - crazy, huh?!!!), we'll be the first gay congregants (hopefully!) that will do so.
Sophie is having her graduation from Brownies to Girl Scouts this afternoon - can't believe that she'll be in 4th grade next year! Boy, the time does go by quickly! And she'll have just turned 10 when Linda & I get married! She's very excited about what she'll wear and all that. Plenty of time for shopping!

Happy belated mother's day to you and congrats on choosing a date. Let the madness begin!

KK... thank you and yes, the madness HAS begun but I'm loving it!
Beth.. thanks for the comment.
KMae... yeah, lots of flying and the date is the 15th, not the 10th, but close enough! And yes, it IS a good life!
