I changed the 'theme' of the blog in honor of March Madness beginning today... as far as I'm concerned, those people in the pic are women. Just go with me on this...
And because my UCONN women are playing at noon on Sunday, my lovely fiancee is making home made spring rolls on Saturday for the few people coming over to watch the game with us. YUM!
And we're very proud of our local Sacred Heart University women who made it into the Big Dance as a #14 seed, playing against Ohio State in the first round. GO PIONEERS! So cool!
And how cool that Temple University (coached by Tonya Cordoza - who used to be one of the UCONN coaches) will be playing at Storrs in the first round of play? Who knows, they just might end up playing us in the 2nd round!
So I was sent home from work today. Well, not exactly.
My work computer crashed last night and it's with the techies being 'fixed' and won't be returned to me until tomorrow. It's amazing how little you can do without a pc. (laughing devilishly!!!)
So, I attended some meetings this morning and waited for the verdict on the computer, went to lunch with Linda and then waved goodbye at 1:15 and headed home.
The cats were stunned happy to see me!
As you know, I am a firm believer of things happening for a reason.
The computer dying was divine intervention. I was being told that I have WAY too much going on at work and things to take care of that were really in need of my attention.
Oh, I'm blogging using Linda's computer! Sitting comfy in one of our recliners... (I did try to get into my work e-mail, but alas, I can't, so oh well... they'll still be there when I get to work in the morning!)
So the past 2 weeks have been a blur for me. Work is crazy busy and to keep up with the requests, e-mails, workflows, etc... I've been logged in from home and working 2-3 hours at night. Not good for the R&R portion of my life. Not to mention, not really a good thing for one's relationship, even though my lovely fiancee is truly understanding.
On top of the work, I've been finalizing a reunion for our Temple's 150th Anniversary. Yeah, in my spare time, since October, I've been trying to hunt-down, search, stalk, look for people who were in a youth group choir I belonged to back in 1973-75 and any and all people who have been in the group since then!
It's been fun reconnecting with some of them, and I'm looking forward to catching up with the few from my years that are coming tomorrow night. Yes, tomorrow night is the big night! The reunionites will be having their one and only rehearsal at 4pm and singing 3 songs during services at 6! (Our current Cantor volunteered to produce CD's with the songs on them and had them sent out to the attendees with the sheet music/words so everyone could practice at home!)
The Cantor that began and led this group back when I was in it, has long since retired, but he still lives in the area, so the first thing I did when I came up with this great event, was get a hold of him and get him on board to reprise his role of conductor and he was very excited about it!
Next was to start going thru Facebook, word of mouth in the Temple bulletin to see who still knew people from back in the day, etc...
2 weeks ago, I started looking around for a restaurant to hold the Shabbat dinner after services for those interested and found a place nearby for the 40 (woohoo) people (including friends/family). Not all singers will be going to dinner, but enough of them to make the evening's festivities last a little longer.
We had 26 old members and I was happy to find out that some of them live in the area and have small children, so perhaps will reconnect to the Temple because of this event, which would really be nice.
As much as I'm looking forward to the event, I'll be happy when it's over with. A lot of list making, coordinating venues, writing and answering e-mails, etc...
Bowling update: We maintained our 11th in team rankings last week. Linda improved her average and I barely maintained mine! The Rabbi shocked us and herself by bowling 2 games in the 130's! (her average is 107!) JR consistently makes her average and then some, rounding out a really fun group. This coming Sunday, we bowl the #1 team who are a nice bunch of women, so maybe we can take advantage of our huge handicap and get some points!
American Idol update: Glad to see Alexis go home last night. My opinions on the others are as follows: Adam skeeves me and his cocky smile needs to be slapped off his face. I think Scott is sweet and super talented. I like Kris, but he has no showmanship. L'il doesn't stand out enough, but has an amazing voice. Alison skeeves me and needs to go home. LOVE Megan. Tattooed arm and all. Her voice is unique, as are her moves when she sings. LOVE her. Danny is good, too.
Welp... guess I should see about work e-mails on this dreary, dark & rainy afternoon, now that my blogging is completed!

'bout time!
Maybe I should throw my computer out the window so I can go home too!
Wait, my windows don't open.
:::ack!!::
I'm trapped!!

My problem's worse than Tina's. *I* don't even have windows. ;)
Anyhoo... that reunion deal-e-o sounds like it's going to be a fun event. Congrats on pulling it all together.

The reunion sounds like fun, and what a feat pulling it together!

Hey! I think Adam's great. He's talented.
I'm just glad I didn't grow up when goth/freak was the thing. yuck.
It was fun being a hippie in youth. Nothing violent looking.
Glad you got some time off.
I was worried you were being held hostage by faries.
