As nice it is to be off on vacation, it's always tough to go back. Today was no exception.
I'm just glad that I did check e-mails on Thursday and worked for few hours Sunday night, so that the re-entry wasn't too bad.
Though there was some construction around my new work space, and in the process I had no power for about an hour and no network connection for a little longer, but by 9:30, I was up and running. sigh.
Yeah, about the new work space. I was bumped out of my nice office and back into a cube. Not just a cube, but a cube that is right on the beaten path and has me positioned to allow people to come from behind me. I HATE THAT! But I keep telling myself that I'm thankful to have a job and it doesn't seem so bad. And add to that, I'm busy as all get out, so who has time to notice where the Hell I'm sitting anyway?!
My boss thinks my seat is temporary - a few months, while a new project gets off the ground and some big-wigs need a place to sit while things are in the initial stages. But once they're gone, I just might get my office back. We'll see.
In the meantime, my life is made up of little cute conversations - such as the one with Linda, when I called her as I left the office. (she had left about 20 minutes ahead of me and had a list of a few things that needed to be picked up at the Stop & Shop on her way home)
me: Hey, how'd the rest of your day go? (we had had lunch together, as we usually do)
L: good, but my boss was a little cranky (very unusual for her boss who is usually a nice guy)
me: sorry to hear that. You at the store yet?
L: I will be.
me: Oh, hey, I forgot to tell you one more thing to add to the list.
L: too bad, too late. No more can be added to the list! (I can tell that she is smiling broadly as she says this, cuz she loves saying no to me!)
me: c'mon.
L: oh, alright WHAT?
me: some sauces. (we use various Thai sauces over either chicken or tofu and mix it with some chopped up cabbage/carrots and then put it over rice as a healthy dinner)
L: sausages? Since when do you want sausage?
me: laughing, yet rolling my eyes... NOOOOOO. sauce plural!
L: oh, ok! I was gonna say, we don't usually eat sausage links...
me: good luck at the store.
L: consider the sausages picked up!
Ah, it was a good to be out of work... laughing and chatting with my honey on the phone!
Sophie had a great piano lesson and my ex met us at the end of the lesson, so I was able to get home by 6. After checking e-mails and changing into work-out clothes, Linda & I headed across the street to the gym (i LOVE the convenience of this gym, I must say! However, the risk factor in crossing the street adds to the elevation of my heart rate!!)
Great workout on the bike and then did a bunch of different weight machines... If I can keep up this momentum, I just might be able to drop the weight that I need to before summer! (wedding weight loss is 25lbs, though we have not set a date, it will be before the end of summer...)
We had a light dinner and showered and I'm going to curl up with a good book. "Conviction" by Richard North Patterson, for those curious.

Cuties. lol
