Seems that having that Mini around makes us hit the road when we aren't working! Though my company was off for the holiday on Wed & Thurs, Linda's company had Thurs and Fri off, so I swapped (which made my boss happy for the extra coverage for our department!) and worked Wednesday and took Thursday and Friday off.
What do Jews do on Christmas Eve? Eat Asian food and go to a movie, what else? We saw "Milk", which I highly recommend. Sean Penn is amazing. What I loved most about this movie is that the time period is exactly when I came out, so the fashion (or lack of!) and music was familiar and comfortable to watch.
As a 19 year old 'thinks she knows everything', it's amazing how clueless I was to the whole gay rights fight going on at that time, or rather how I felt that I had more drinking to do at that time, instead of perhaps joining in the fight. sigh. Youth truly can be wasted on the young.
Anyway.. moving on. On Christmas day, Linda & I decided to do our 2nd annual road trip to wherever we feel like driving to. Last year we headed north and even stayed over night at a cute Bed & Breakfast in Brattleboro, VT. This year, we headed east and a little south, ending up in Newport, Rhode Island. I've never been and Linda hadn't been there since she was a kid.
It was a beautiful day out - 40's and bright sunshine. Here are some pics:
one of the mansions that had this view behind Linda:
and me in front of the waves (that actually had 20+ surfers in full body wet suits - still crazy, if you ask me!:
and me, driving:
We survived the day on Dunkin Donuts coffee and sandwiches, as they were the only place open and arrived back in our hometown and had Asian food again!
Friday, we did some errands during the day, picked up Sophie and attended services and a nice Hanukkah dinner afterwards that was held at the Temple. We came home and watched "The Italian Job" with Sophie. LOVE THIS MOVIE! (Yes, it's probably not exactly the most kid appropriate movie, but she really liked it (and thought Mark Wahlberg was very cute!) and she even watched it again this morning!) Those Mini's steal the movie!
Today, we took a road trip over the Tappan Zee bridge to visit our friend Yak's pizza place - YUM!
We're home this evening like the old almost married couple that we are... enjoying hanging out with our 'boys'.
Here's a shot of one of the many places that Petey found to curl up in...:
He loves hanging out on the bathroom vanity in hope that Linda will leave her make-up bag open and he can go in and 'take' her make-up brush. Literally. Takes it by the bristles in his mouth, jumps down and goes into the living room to have a love fest with it! I will try and get a picture of it the next time it happens, as so far, I'm too busy laughing to take any pictures. Linda scolding and him ignoring her is way too funny to think about grabbing a camera! Sorry, honey!
Hope everyone's week has been a good one so far.

We love Newport! Did you get to do any of the mansion tours, or were they closed?
Petey's a silly boy!

Don't know quite what it is about The Italian Job, but I stop whenever I scroll the dial and find it on.

Tina... i'll look forward to hearing that story...
And as a matter of fact, we were just talking about that and I asked her if she missed it. She says she misses the tree and the decorations, but purely from the commercial aspect - nothing religious.

I thought that Milk was excellent.

Petey is SO precious!
And what beautiful pictures on the road.
I have a friend who has a Hanukkah bush tree with lights so she still gets the pretty decorations.
And lastly - you & Linda are such a great- looking couple!

Sounds like a fun couple of days. Petey is so cute curled up there in the sink (I'd be very tempted to turn on the faucet, but I'm a little evil like that).

Jack... yep.
Kmae... he is and thanks for the other kind words.
Kathleen... his cuteness saves his life many times througout the day, let me assure you!
